Role Overview
The Compensation Specialist will be responsible for the execution of the Company’s Compensation program under the direction of the Director of HR, EMEA. In addition, the successful candidate will be a key contributor to the evolution of the Global Compensation function. Specifically, this role will be required to identify opportunities to improve and harmonize the current compensation practices to deliver best in class compensation processes and service throughout the Company.
The successful individual will be responsible for the annual merit program, incentive plans and salary bands including the job evaluation process, as well as other compensation operational and analytical duties.

Primary Responsibilities:
Annual Merit Program
Assist with the preparation, analysis, and facilitation of the annual merit program. This includes the market data research and preparation of the business case for the merit budget. Prepares all communication and training material. Works closely with the HRIS Specialist to ensure the accurate and timely evaluation of merit increases within the HRIS system. Oversight responsibility for payroll processing of the merit increases.

Incentive/Variable Pay Programs
Lead the administration of the entire Incentive/Variable Pay program. This includes maintaining plan documents, working with Finance and the business on a quarterly and annual basis to calculate and reconcile the payments, co-ordinate and provide oversight for all payments through the Payroll Co-ordinators and prepare the necessary reporting.

Salary Structure
Complete annual salary surveys, or as required throughout the year. Research international data and recommend competitive uplifts to national and regional salary bands. Arrange benchmarking exercises where required to ensure roles are competitively aligned internally as well as to external market comparisons.

Job Evaluation
Co-ordinate the Company’s internal job evaluation program. Responsible for the master tracking of roles, salary bands and grades. Educate the regional HR Solutions Teams on any changes to the program. Lead Internal Job Evaluation Committee meetings. Responsible for the maintenance and creation of new role descriptions and titles globally.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the compensation module in the HRIS system. Works closely with the HRIS Specialist to ensure the correct incentive plans and salary structures are in the system.
  • Monitors the compensation program to ensure compliance with applicable laws and standards globally and keeps abreast of trends in compensation practice globally.
  • Regularly analyzes compensation data; proactively comes forward to the HR Solutions Teams with recommendations
  • Responsible for handling all aspects of the Company’s Years of Service program
  • Participates in regional compensation projects as required
  • Provides analytical and consultative support to the regional HR Solutions Teams on any projects or ad hoc needs with a compensation component.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a Compensation role, preferably within a Corporate Human Resources function
  • Post secondary degree or diploma in related discipline
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) is preferred
  • Previous exposure to global compensation is strongly preferred, strength in Canadian and US compensation essential
  • Experience working with payroll is an asset
  • Ability to work in a matrixed environment and deal with ambiguity
  • Ability to work in a global HR team environment with a high sense of urgency and flexibility
  • Progressive and proven experience in compensation including knowledge of job evaluation, pay structure, variable pay design, pay equity legislation, annual merit budgeting, and the use of competitive pay analysis
  • Excellent research skills
  • Superior excel and PowerPoint skills including developing and use of compensation models
  • Excellent relationship management, organizational and influencing skills. Proven ability to keep multiple projects progressing and on track for a timely delivery
  • Ability to analyze and interpret complex reports and data sets
  • Ability to work on an independent basis is critical
Other Information:
This role will require a handful of conference calls at non-core business hours to accommodate a global HR team functioning around the world
This role may involve some limited travel
