Role Overview

The Director of Strategic Proposals & Bid Management will enhance and lead the development of an outstanding proposal and bid management practice that yields a high offer? and win ratio. This leader will maximize the interdependencies between groups and subject matter experts to develop and operationalize compelling content that is client-centric and competitive - viewing the proposal process as a strategic positioning opportunity and enthusiastically driving synergies from one phase of the buying process to the next. The Director will enhance and evolve our bid scorecard and will have full oversight of the content, quality and delivery of a winning work product for those bids that fit within our strategic scope and target market. This position requires strong leadership, communication, project management and people skills.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Proven track record of managing all aspects of large and complex bids, and leading a team of others accountable for the same. Identify opportunities and strategically plan for the further development of a market-leading and successful bid management operations
  • Leverages experience and knowledge to actively contribute to shaping the business by influencing the construction of pursuits, supporting the development of services through identification of market trends, collaborating on development of successful sales propositions
  • Develops and manages the competitive insight at the conclusion of sales opportunities to capture win / loss insights for leveraging in future pursuits and Marketing activities
  • Develops and manages the bid pipeline through collaboration with broader business stakeholders
  • Leads and manages the workload, daily activities and professional development of the proposal team which includes both internal and external resources.
  • Supports the development of new bid management systems for ensuring on-going quality and consistency
  • Leads the development of proposal tools and processes to ensure they are consistent with win themes, style guide and other presentation tactics, as identified in the RFP Response.
  • Stays abreast of new technologies and sales delivery tools to help inform the overall positioning of BGRS in sales pursuits including and through the final presentation before close.
  • Ensures that all proposals are quality products, submitted on-time, consistent and follow an efficient, effective, and repeatable process that demonstrates a mature proposal development process.
  • Inspires creative writing, internal collaboration, idea sharing and strong relationships among staff on the proposal team, within the Marketing & Communciations and Consulting Services teams, and broader organization overall
  • Develops an understanding of key industry issues and company operations and able to interview company executives to obtain necessary information for use in proposals. Transfer and centralize that knowledge through the ownership of proposal content (Qvidian) and collaboration tools


What You Bring to BGRS

  • BS/BA degree required. Journalism or Marketing focus is preferable. Ten or more years of relevant work experience including progressive management responsibility and increasing scope.
  • Strong business acumen and a proven track record of success, having managed large and complex bids.
  • Ability to identify and maximize synergies with key stakeholders in Marketing, Product, Client Services and Client Development functions
  • Experience within the relocation / mobility industry or a related HR or Outsourcing field is preferred.
  • Forges strong internal relationships and aggregates subject matter expertise and perspectives into compelling and competitive language and messaging
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
  • Ability to apply industry best practice and lessons learned into the proposal development process
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and negotiation skills and problem solving ability
  • Thrives on collaboration while highly effective working and leading independently
  • Excellent judgment and decision making skills
  • Expert PC skills, including Word, Excel and bid management software / databases
  • Strong leadership experience and ability to inspire and measure high performance
  • Knowledge of online procurement and pipeline management / sales tools such as Ariba, GeP, Salesforce.com, etc. a plus
