Role Overview

The Project Manager is accountable for overseeing end-to-end activities of various departments’ projects to ensure organizational program/project strategic goals and objectives are achieved within approved timeframes, scope and budget.

 

Key performance indicators for the role includes:
 

  • delivery of project outcome within time, budget, quality and scope,

  • percentage of achievement of all project objectives,

  • percentage of realization of project benefits,

  • level of customer/sponsor/team satisfaction,

  • number of outstanding items upon project closure (i.e. issues, risks, change requests, uncompleted tasks).


What You'll Be Doing
 

  • Rigorously manage scope to ensure commitments are achieved within agreed on time, cost and quality parameters. Investigate and make recommendation on issues that challenge scope boundaries.

  • Prepare and maintain all project documentation including project charter, project plan, work breakdown, contingency plan and resource plan.

  • Create and manage project budgets and effectively manage Forecast and Actuals.

  • Define and track project milestones while developing, maintaining and reporting on an overall integrated project plan.
  • Proactively identify, track and manage project issues and risks. Develop and maintain issue and risk logs.

  • Ensure project activities and deliverables adhere to PMO quality and standards.
  • Monitor project progress, dependencies, scope, risks, quality and delivery of projects in line with agreed upon project commitments, timelines and budgets.

  • Single point of contact for all project related issues and risks. Coordinate the development and approval of corrective action and/or contingency plans.
  • Primary liaison between project stakeholders, contributors, project sponsors and steering committees.
  • Lead and enable cross-functional teams to deliver on their assigned work; Delegate tasks and responsibilities as required; Coach, mentor and manage project team.
  • Provide clear, customized and regular communication and reports on project status, tasks, milestones, challenges, risks and issues to stakeholders including chairing meetings to review progress with key constituents.
  • Manage scheduling, agenda creation, planning, facilitation, and actioning of outcomes for project team meetings.
  • Lead RFI, RFP activities with procurement resources and business owners including requirements gathering, issuing/managing RFPs, organizing demos and related activities.
  • Help to draft and negotiate agreements with external vendors and partners. Manage vendor relationships where applicable.

  • Analyze project deliverables and solutions throughout the project to ensure alignment to business, end-user needs and ensure sustainability of implemented solution after project closes.

  • Complete lessons learned and post implementation reviews.

  • Participate proactively in maintaining and developing standards, tools, and best practices improving how projects are managed and executed and enhancing the value add of the PMO.

 


What You Bring to BGRS
 

  • BA/BS degree in computer science, business or related.

  • PMP certified or certification actively in progress.

  • Lean Six Sigma (any belt level) certifications are an asset.

  • Minimum three to ten years of progressive experience in a project management role delivering complex projects with preference given to those with industry specific experience.

  • Exemplary core project management skills with proven application of both theoretical and practical aspects of project management including techniques and tools.

  • Proven ability to quickly earn the trust of sponsors and key stakeholders; mobilize and motivate teams, set direction and approach; resolve conflict; deliver tough messages with grace; execute with limited information and ambiguity in a fast paced environment.

  • Solid influencing skills.

  • Sound business and technical acumen.

  • Experience with stakeholder management.

  • Focused and versatile team player and comfortable under pressure.

  • Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally.

  • Ability to remove barriers and enable teams to complete their objectives.

  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills to resolve issues or conflicts.

  • Experience managing project financials and forecasting including developing and tracking capital and operating budgets.

  • Delivery, deadline and detail oriented and is results driven.

  • Ability to quickly become a subject matter expert and work with a high degree of autonomy.

  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.

  • Effective time management in complex situations.

  • Ability to adapt to new ideas and changing business dynamics without compromising the integrity of basic project management principles.

  • High degree of professionalism, especially when faced with critical and intense situations.
