Manager, Business Project Management

Reporting to the Director of Business Project Management, this position is responsible for the oversight and delivery of implementation of large scale projects and the completion of system configuration and process improvement deliverables along with managing a team of Process Management Specialists. The role carries responsibility for ensuring that their team conforms to Brookfield’s Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) standards for all system and business changes promoted to production. This role will require the management of cross functional global projects and therefore requires a global mindset and strong project management skills.

Management
  • Establish meaningful performance objectives that align with organizational strategy
  • Provide Associate feedback in monthly (at a minimum) 1:1 sessions: Honestly evaluate, document, and discuss each direct report's progress toward objectives and achievement of results on a monthly basis
  • Perform mid-year and annual performance appraisals per the schedule
  • Ensure team’s adherence to Brookfield GRS employee handbook policies
  • Does not let performance problems linger, documents issues and escalates when appropriate
  • Provide training and coaching to associates to develop skills and facilitate succession planning
  • Provide appropriate rewards and recognition for achievement of stated objectives
  • Ensure appropriate succession plan is completed and updated on an annual basis
  • Ensure transparency within team through open communication and regular team meetings
  • Respond positively to evolving and changing business environment by both seeking and incorporating feedback and demonstrating the ability to adapt, while keeping a positive attitude
  • Manage to appropriate staffing levels and ensure volumes matches capacity
  • Objectively identify and escalate staffing/ resources issues when appropriate
  • Manage department activities within the defined budget parameter

Customer Service
  • Respond to inquiries within one business day
  • Immediately escalate issues to BPM Management and/ or project stakeholders as appropriate
  • Ability to identify and understand customer needs and address them in a timely manner
  • Adhere to the BGRS core competencies at all times

Tasks
  • Responsible for the management and on-time/ on budget implementation of global projects, system configuration changes, business process changes and IT related work orders, from large scale initiatives to small scale improvement requests, assigned to you and your direct report team
  • Partner with project sponsor(s), business SMEs, PMO, IT and other appropriate stakeholders to ensure project success
  • Act as liaison between business and IT associates on all IT related changes
  • Create formal project management documentation including charter, scope, resource lists, key decision/ issues/ risks documents and any required project specific documentation
  • Develop and maintain end-to-end project schedules including detailed task lists, assigned resources and task deadlines
  • Provide formal weekly or bi-weekly written project status updates to project sponsors and Director, BPM
  • Maintain BPM SharePoint site with updated project and status update documentation
  • Ensures appropriate business unit and regional representation in the work order process and ensure the cross functional impact of any proposed change is identified and considered
  • Responsible for completing or coordinating timely user acceptance testing and implementation of defect fixes (support derived requests) and enhancements to all relocation applications
  • Ensure business process control functions, client and customer needs take priority over other requests and are completed within standard
  • Ensure all assigned business processes changes are documented (process mapping, SOP’s, etc), reviewed, tested, approved by the functional owner and posted to appropriate repository prior to the implementation of any change is promoted into production
  • Ensure training needs are identified throughout the SDLC process and partner with Learning & Development team to ensure end users are proactively trained on all project and process initiatives prior to implementation
  • Develop project specific change management plans including formal communication strategy and timeline
  • Ensure configuration changes are identified throughout the SDLC process and the required configuration changes are completed prior to any change promoted into production
  • Provide business consultation and analysis on an as needed basis
  • Special projects as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 – 2 years of management experience
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience in business related field
  • 5+ years experience in process and/ or project management
  • Experience in portfolio management tool preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows environment (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Project is preferred
  • Flexibility in work schedule as required
