Role Overview

The Project Manager, Technology Implementation is responsible for implementing, monitoring and reporting on the progress of the new HR Information System.

The Project Manager, requires strong leadership and communications skills needed to effectively collaborate with business stakeholders and technical representatives from the vendor and internally.


What You'll Be Doing

 

  • Responsible for the overall coordination of the project deliverables and managing the project through to completion. This includes maintaining the project budget.
  • Develop and manage a project plan and schedule including the work breakdown structure and all dependencies
  • Clearly communicate project deadlines and monitor project team’s progress through deliverables and milestones, ensuring completeness and quality of their work
  • Manage with the vendor implementation team to ensure open and consistent communication channels and timely completion of vendor deliverables.
  • Communicate regularly with Business Project Leadership, Sponsors and other stakeholders, identifying upcoming issues, concerns, and resources requirements
  • Provide regular communications of project status to HR & IT management and to the Project Steering Committee
  • Facilitate project kick-off meeting to explain the structure of the implementation team, the implementation process, and the project timeframe
  • Ensure all project deliverables conform to company project management methodology, standards, and procedures
  • Managing all phases of the project lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, control and closing) strongly integrated with the system development lifecycle (requirements gathering and signoff, system/ technical design, prototypes review, development, QA and User Acceptance planning and testing, deployment to production)
  • Manage risks, issues and decisions, and taking actions to mitigate or correct as required
  • Project manages the development of a change management program for the rollout and ongoing maintenance of the HRIS that integrates with related BGRS change management processes and vendor processes.
  • Assists the internal HR project team with the creation, editing and proof reading of user documentation, training aides for employees and people managers, and communication pieces.
  • Regularly leverages their previous experience with HRIS implementations to discern critical deliverables and timeframes which may not have been considered by the vendor.



What You Bring to BGRS

Successful in working on large projects, on time and within budget.

  • PMP Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or relevant experience
  • Technical writing experience preferable
  • Proven success in working on large projects, on time and within budget, within a global environment.
  • Previous vendor management experience is a requirement
  • Minimum 7 years IT project management experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing technical implementation projects, with preference given to HRIS implementations
  • Ability to work in virtual, disparate, cross-functional teams without direct authority
  • Proven ability to work under stressful conditions
  • Strong oral communication and written communication skills. Previous experience creating employee communication and user documentation.
  • Knowledge of Human Resources jargon to be able to converse and translate HR business needs into technical specifications
  • An appreciation and sensitivity to confidential employee data is critical
  • Strong planning skills, negotiation skills, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Flexibility to participate in conference calls outside of core business hours to accommodate the global HR team as well as other key business stakeholders
